At its fourth annual and largest ever worldwide users conference in July 1995, Informix introduced INFORMIX(R)-OnLine Extended Parallel Server (XPS), extending Informix's industry leading Dynamic Scalable Architecture(TM) to clustered SMP and MPP environments. Informix also introduced its INFORMIX-NewEra(TM) Version 2.0, including new features for rapid application development, application partitioning, and character based deployment. In September, 1995, Informix announced that it has optimized INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server(TM) for 64 bit UNIX based computer systems. This version of INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server became available on Digital's AlphaServer in mid-September. Other products introduced during 1995 include class libraries for use with INFORMIX-NewEra, the INFORMIX-Enterprise Gateway for Database Connectivity, and Informix ViewPoint(TM) and ViewPoint Pro for multiple database access. TECHNOLOGY MILESTONES IN 1995 Informix continued to build on its leading position in parallel processing database technology throughout 1995. Informix extended the power of its Dynamic Scalable Architecture to clustered SMP and MPP environments with the introduction of INFORMIX- Extended Parallel Server in July. In September, Informix announced the formation of an alliance with Hewlett-Packard and Gemplus to develop a secure infrastructure that will enable corporations to speed new services to consumers via credit card sized personal information cards, often called smart cards. These personal information cards will allow service providers, such as financial institutions, telecommunications companies and airlines, to provide customers with individualized service. Also in September, Informix and Hewlett-Packard announced a 1,110 user sales and distribution (SD) benchmark at under 1.6 second response time for SAP's leading R/3 sales and distribution module. This SD benchmark demonstrated the high-end scalability of INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server, a system configuration that large SAP customers are demanding. These benchmark results give customers an important planning point of reference for proving the ability of SAP, Informix, and Hewlett-Packard to run a customer's entire enterprise. Informix and MobileWare Corporation announced that they will work together to provide a mobile architecture that will enable mobile workers to access vertical client/server applications through a simple wireless communications connection. Informix announced its strategy for providing the leading database technology for the Worldwide Web. In addition to its industry leading database products, Informix's Web strategy includes Web interface kits for customers requiring the ability to build Web database applications; the formation of a new Web Partner Program, created to provide customers with a complete Web solution by incorporating best-in-class technologies from leading Web technology providers with Informix's OnLine Dynamic Server; and strong partnerships with leading Web providers in a variety of areas including Netscape Communications, Spider Technologies, Bluestone, net.Genesi
