This time I didn't go too far. Just experimenting the SQL statement in
dbaccess on one server only. db4 and db6 are 2 databases from single
instance TEST which is reside in the same server. I run the command
below in the dbserver itself(not across network).
select a.branch_code, a.user_id, b.branch_code, b.user_id
from db4@TEST:code_pwdaccess a, db6@TEST:code_pwdaccess b# ^
# 908: Attempt to connect to database server (TEST, conerr=-25555,
oserr=0) fail
ed.
#
where a.user_id = b.user_id
I've no idea what I did wrong. In my sqlhosts I've this :-
TEST onipcshm 10.185.66.186 abc
TEST186 onsoctcp 10.185.66.186 8877
Of coz with the following SQL I've no problem(I set enviroment
variable INFORMIXSERVER=TEST).
select a.branch_code, a.user_id, b.branch_code, b.user_id
from code_pwdaccess a, code_pwdaccess b
where a.user_id = b.user_id
Actually I agree with Michael about disadvantage of doing this. The
idea came from my boss :(, therefore I need to find out whether his
idea is feasible or not :<.
