I have seen this problem on AIX 3.2.5 with informix 5.02.UC2, in my case whenever i delete and reinsert all the records i use to get this problem. Informix has accepted that there is a bug in the query optimizer in version 5.02.xx. Informix sent me 5.03.UC2, this version doen't have this problem. I have not tried this under Informix 6.0 but i tried under Informix 7.1 it seems to work.
