Probably you need to add some information to /etc/system and reboot so the
kernel knows you want to allow shared memory operations. The bottom of my
Sparc 20 /etc/system (running Solaris 2.5.1 or SunOS 5.5.1) reads:
* Semaphore set configuration
set semsys:seminfo_semmap=64
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semume=64
* Shared memory configuration (16 MB maximum)
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=16777216
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100
Look in the machine-specific release notes (release/en_us/0333/...) too.
If you've got more than 64MB memory, you might want to increase the max.
I tend to limit shared memory to 25% of physical memory -- there was a
reason why (maybe performance), but I've forgotten the details.
