Primary Chunk down - can it be reactivated?
Posted in 1999
Hi Informixers,
due to a disk failure (the tech says it's temporary but I haven't had
the chance to thourougly test that yet) my IDS test instance went down
today with the following message:
13:14:03 Assert Failed: I/O error, Primary Chunk '/dev/online_root' -- Offline
13:14:03 Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC6
13:14:03 Who: Session(1, informix@OIT15X, 0, 0)
Thread(7, main_loop(), 0, 1)
File: rsbuff.c Line: 3571
13:14:03 Results: Chunk is now unusable
13:14:03 Action: Repair and restore from mirror or archive
Since this is a development server only, there are no recent backups
available. I will get a new disk tomorrow, but to save me some work I'd
like to reactivate the system to at least backup the data before the
disk is exchanged. Is it possible to reactivate this chunk or am I out of
luck?
FYI, the IDS instance has two DBS: /dev/online_root and /dev/online_daten,
each consisting of only one chunk, which are raw partitions residing
on the same disk. "rootdbs" is in online_root, while the data are in
online_daten. If I cannot reactivate the rootdbs chunk, is there a way
to at least recover the data dbs? Platform is Siemens Reliant UNIX 5.43C20
on a Siemens RM400-330.
Regards, Richard
