It depends on the context.
In DB-Access and ISQL (or almost any ring-menu program), use ! to get a
shell escape.
In DB-Access and ISQL SQL scripts, you can probably use ! in the script
when using "dbaccess dbase script", but not within the Query-Language
option.
In I4GL or NewEra, use RUN.
In Stored Procedures, use SYSTEM.
There are probably other places where you can run them, but that covers the
majority of them.
