compression and ER

Folks, When a table is compressed and ER replicated, assume the data compression ratio is 80% on the table, do you think the ER data volume in network for that datable could be reduced by 80%? or compression will not change ER traffic volume ? Thanks, Frank --001a11c2f4e6312cd104f3ddf116
Using the CDR_NIFCOMPRESS in the ONCONFIG file, you control the level of compression that ER uses to transmit data from one server to another. If you are already using CDR_NIFCOMPRESS the gain in ER throughput dependent on compression will depend on the current level of CDR_NIFCOMPRESS already set. If you have it set to 9 there may be on effect whatever (or even a small net negative effect). Art Art S. It will not affect the network. If you want to compress the network traffic, you need to turn on CDR_NIFCOMPRESS on both the source and tar= get nodes. BTW, CDR_NIFCOMPRESS has been in place since version 9.3.
