Ontape to disk on IDS7.31

I know that this request is a bit outdated but I have a situation where I need
to organize daily level 0 archive of IDS7.31 to a file system.
Of course, archive is a lot bigger than 2GB. Ulimit is not an issue but
limitation of specific Informix version - IDS 7.31 cannot create file bigger
than 2GB.
I set ONTAPE parameter to file and set tape size to 2GB. I can manually make a
full archive by responding to ontape prompts and renaming files but I need to
do that from cron.
Does anybody have a shell script which handles above procedure?
Thanks in advance.
You could automate that using Expect - refer to http://expect.nist.gov/

Thank you. In the meantime I got several solutions via mail and I chose one that does not use 'expect'. It consists of two scripts, one calls another and performs very nice. Origin is "mbp_ontape" Utilities for unattended backup of database and logs to disk by: Pavel Bohacik 2002-11-06. Downloadable from http://www.iiug.org/software/repository_news.html. Of course I made lots of changes to suit scripts to my preferences but basic idea remained same.
There are versions of 7.31 that can make an ontape archive on disk (in a
single file) well larger than 2 GB. For example, 7.31.FD8 on Solaris/SPARC is
such, and is quite reliable. However, it is a 64-bit IDS engine on 64-bit
Solaris.
Since you have managed to solve the problem by modifying some scripts from
IIUG, it would be nice to publish them to be available to perhaps help someone
else.
