Dears, I have a shell script that uses sacego to collect stats from IDS 7.3, the script works fine when I run it from the command line however when I try to schedule it through cron it does not run and gives the following error inside aceerror ld.so.1: sacego: fatal: libifsql.so: open failed: No such file or directory I have included a symbolic link to libifsql.so and libifsql.a, but still the script is not able to see them. Best regards, Jihad Daouk
Commands fired from cron have almost no PATH or environment set. Your cron command will need to be a script which adds all of your Informix environment in order to find the libraries. You should make sure that the script that calls it has all the necessary environment variables. Things like INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER, INFORMIXSQLHOSTS (if not using $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts), PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or whatever is equivalent for your system). So you could check the values of the above variables in the session where it works and replicate them inside the crontab scripts. Also check that your user has all the necessary permissions. By the way, which user are you using? Is is the same as in your interactive session? You can also include some debug information in the script and direct it do a temp file. Things like: ldd <your_command> strace <your command> (this could proably generate debug information and you should be able to see where it's looking for the files) Regards. In the cron script you have to set up the environment for sacego (or most anything else) to run, cron does not automatically run the normal login scirpts like /etc/profile or $HOME/.profile for you. So, whatever script is running for your normal login (or informix's normal login) you will have to run in the cron script as a 'dot' script. Art Art S.
