I am moving informix 5.x to informix 9.x which utility works best for
migrating the data. The server is already upgraded to 9.3 I need to know
which utility to use to migrate my database.
tbtape to onbar
tbunload to onload or something like that...
has anybody upgrade from that far down before.
I'd use dbexport as it allows me to the tweak the database schema. But
you might need quite a bit of disk:-))

The only caveat to that would be if there's any *huge* tables, resulting in
an '.unl' file >2gb - Informix won't write such a file to disk.

Go to www.iiug.org and get Software -> utils_ak2.
Use myschema to get a schema of the database without indexes/constranits.
Modify schema to create tables in correct dbspaces/with correct extent
sizes.
Use dbcopy to copy the data across
Use myschema to get indexes/contraints.
Create these using PSORT_NPROCS etc to get fast parallel index builds/
fast constraint creation.
