Blob Spaces?

I just called Informix and asked them how do you control which blobspace a blob will go into (I could not find anything in the docs). They told me that the only way to control this was by using esql-c and that you can't control this with SQL? Is this true? They told me if I create a blobspace, online would use it by default.
