parallel sorting

Greetings! I am having some trouble with PSORT and when he is utilized and when he is not utilized. After reading the OnLine Admin Guide and experimenting some, this is what I have come up with. 1. PSORT will not be used unless there are more than 100 pages of data to sort. As I understand it, a page of data, for sorting purposes, is a collection of rows defined as: rowid, [ sort_column ]+. 2. If there are less than 100 pages of data, the $DBTEMP sort space will be used, and you do not get an extra turbo to help you sort. 3. If your sort data follows into the following ranges, you get an extra turbo and sortfile to sort: pages turbos 1-100 1 100-150 2 151-200 3 : : n-n+50 $PSORT_NPROCS Is this consistent with what you are experiencing? This has been a source of great frustration as we try to get our developers away from having an index for every order by in every query. Can you set $DBTEMP to be /x:/y:/z like $PSORT_DBTEMP can be? -- Dave Proksch - ValueRx - "We do drugs right!"
