Re: Online Physical Log Question

1. What impact does the physical log file size have on performance? If its too small, it can cause checkpoints to occur to frequently. Each time the physical log reaches %75 full, it causes a checkpoint. Checkpoints suspend user threads until the sync is done. 2. What is the process for changing its size? Does Online have to be re-initialized or can it just be changed and brought back up? You do have to take to database offline to accomplish this, but you don't have to re-init from scratch. J. Dority
