Re: Informix on NT - IECC cannot connect to database

Sven, Sorry for not having found this post before; this is an initial excursion for me into the deja.news methods of reading forums. Just to make sure that you've gotten your configuration set properly, go into the "control panel" under your "informix neighborhood" icon. The first thing to check is that your shared server "Machine Name" is set to your current machine. If it is not, you are trying to use the "setnet" configuration from whatever machine you have listed here. As a Unix bigot, this really threw me the first time I saw it. After that, check the "servers" tab. You should be able to see a list of servers there; if not, go ahead and "add" one. That should walk you through the process, and it's pretty straightforward. If during the "add" process, you don't see any servers available, go back through your setnet configuration, and verify all of your settings. Remember that NT doesn't work the way that Unix does (I'm not an NT guru, but I have observed some differences in the way that things work), so it might matter WHICH "setnet" you've run. To make sure that it's the correct one, choose the one from the same application options that you're running IECC from. I've actually had some problems where one set of setnet configurations didn't update the registry the same way as another, and really messed me up.
