Problem starting up 7.23 UC1 on AIX
Posted in 1997
Hi everybody,
We upgraded to 7.23 UC1 from 7.22 UC2 ODS on our AIX platform a couple of
weeks back. Since then on two different days, I have noticed that when I kill
the engine and attempt to restart it, it just sits at the "initializing ...
please wait " prompt for just about ever. ( I waited upto 25 minutes once ). So,
I Ctrl-C it, then I have to onmode -ky it ( since it is still in the
initialization stage ), then I have to kill the oninits physically ( since they
just stay there too ). And then I have to start all over again, and the same
thing happens. The first time it happened, the cycle continued for 5 times, and
then the 6-th time it initialized. The second time ( which is going on right now
), I am on the third attempt to bring up the server, and no luck so far. This is
our development box, but I still need the server up in about an hour for work.
Any ideas what is going on ?? This has never happened before. Is this a bug
?? I am concerned because we just moved to 7.23 on our production m/c last
weekend.
Any clues appreciated.
As a last resort, I am going to recycle the UNIX box, since it hasn't been
shutdown for a long time and there are a lot of defunct processess ( previously
oninits ).Again, this is not a regular occurence.
Thanks in advance
Sujata
