I'm a long time user of iformix 4gl rds on my home computer. I run it under SCO on a partition next to Win98. My version of ifx 4gl is quite old.... Informix is now offering: Informix 4GL Rapid Development System 7.20.UD1 for Intel Pentium Linux 2.0.35 GLIBC 2.0.7 Is this a complete system? Say I buy Linux, create a partition for it, download the above; do I get language, database engine, all I need to compile and run 4gl the way I do now? loudelon...

No. There is no database engine packaged with it. You'd have to obtain SE or IDS separately. I suspect your version pre-dates 4.00 and therefore the engine now known as SE was bundled with the software; that changed at version 4.00. > Say I buy Linux, create a partition for it, download the above; > do I get language, database engine, all I need to compile and > run 4gl the way I do now? -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
