Does the size of the extents automatically change to reflect the current table size? By this I mean suppose you created the index when the table had 100,000 rows. You didn't change the default extent size so its relatively small... The table now has over 10 million rows. If you drop and recreate the index, will it still try to create its extents in proportion to the table's extents or will it create a larger first extent and then smaller (yet still large) next extents? IMHO this sort of auto tuning makes sense, although I'm not sure that IDS does this sort of thing ... But hey! What do I know? I'm not a DBA. ;-) -G _________________________________________________________________ Get gifts for them and cashback for you.
