alter table to row locking

Hi all, We have 5.05 Online on AIX 3.25. I tried to run this statement: alter table tablename lock mode row I got syntax error msg. Our database is in ANSI mode, and I logged it as the owner of the database. Any idea how to make this work. Thanks for any help.
