Am I hosed? gunzip question/problem
Posted in 2003
OK on a client's development box I have been performing archives using
ontape to a named pipe to gzip to create a ontape_save.gz file of
approximately 7 gig.
Now I need to perform a restore (ontape -r) but when I start the gunzip
ontape_save.gz command (to said named pipe or by itself) I get the
following message:
**************************************************************
gunzip ontape_save.gz
ontape_save.gz: Value too large for defined data type
**************************************************************
What is the problem? Is there anything I can do about this? Or
am I truly hosed? In the future should I go back to using compress iso
gzip?

Many thanks in advance.
