Hmm, I've never actually noticed that but this is what I'd guess is happening.
The msc vp is used mainly used when users connect to the system to do
password lookups and such. The mechanism it uses is very similiar for when
a thread requests I/O to be done (by either the kaio or aio vps). So the total
ops is probably the times it has been requested to do things, but since it is
doing something different then actual I/O request (like read this page from
this chunk) it never gets into code that would update the other fields in
whatever structure the onstat -g iov dumps out because they don't make
sense in the context of what the msc vp is actually doing. Rest assured if
people are connecting to your server then your msc vp is doing something.
