The LVM will overwrite the first 4k of your Informix pages if you do certain actions (like importvg and other not so obvious commands) In real life this actually did not lead to Problems on the first chunk in a dbspace, but it will lead to problems on a 2,3,4, .. th chunk in a dbspace.
