Who could i better ask about the differences between Informix and Oracle, than the Informix-users themselves. I would like to know which features of Informix are superior, but also which features Informix is missing compared to Oracle (maybe you know of some?) (...) < If you are talking about the differences between Oracle 8 and Informix Universal server, our new report Ovum Evaluates: Object/Relational Databases will give you very detailed comparisons and judgements. It also evaluates IBM Universal Database, Sybase and Microsoft. Ovum Evaluates: Object/Relational Databases was researched and written by David Wells, who has years database kernel development in his background, but equally understands the impact on business benefit of features and architectural tradeoffs. For example, he neatly takes the heat out of Stonebraker's infamous "fast versus safe" gaffe. Oh, and since both Oracle 8 and Informix Universal Server are pretty new, you won't find many users to ask. You may find more for IBM Universal Database which introduced key object/relational features as long ago as 1995, but this is due for major enhancements, which the report describes and assesses.
