ODBC is in fact part of Microsofts WOSA (Windows Open system Architecture) plan and was developed by Microsoft. Or to quote Microsoft: 'ODBC is Microsoft's strategic interface for accessing data in a heterogeneous environment of relational and non-relational database management systems. ODBC is open ' it is based upon work in progress on the Call Level Interface specification by the SQL Access Group, and was designed through an open process incorporating feedback from numerous software vendors and corporations.' So as far as I'm aware Microsoft have full control of what goes into the specification since they are the people behind it. Saying that Microsoft ARE very keen on getting third party vendors to write drivers and make ODBC a success...but wouldn't you be when it helps sell windows boxes as front end platforms for all the major databases. Currently Microsoft is developing ODBC version 3.0, of which there are some details on the Microsoft Web pages and FTP sites. Christian Proud SCO Inc (Leeds - UK)
