Re: Bug in 4GL (and PROMPT)

Hey! Are there any psychologists in the house!!!! My mind needs fixing! I realize that when you look at something long > enough, you fail to see the obvious. Even though you didn't ask David, I'll go ahead and tell everyone it's not a joke, but probably just the results of a long, hard, hectic day (with entirely too many phone interruptions, ugh!! I HATE TROUBLE CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). And I was working with 4 different versions of my program in 2 directories. As I write this, I have to my left the sheet of paper on which I scribbled the original program. I clearly have an EXIT WHILE written in the proper place. Now how did I manage to leave out the Exit While when I keyed it in and then missed seeing it when I attempted to debug it?!?!?!?! Why heck, it's only 8 lines and it's plain as daylight why it's not working! My, my! What threw me off, I suppose, was that Warning message. I've never before compiled anything that gave a Warning (even several programs with many CASE statements) without the compile failing. So when my program didn't execute properly, I briefly looked over it and skipped the obvious. Now under what circumstances will 4GL create C code that gives Warnings when you use CASE? I'd like to know. Regarding the PROMPT statement: How can you prevent the terminal from beeping when a user presses any of the following keys? Esc, Tab, Backspace, Up arrow, Down arrow, Left arrow, or Line Feed.
