Maximum Server Connections

Today we experienced an odd problem. The 51st person to access the database would get the following message: The appl process cannot connect to the database server dev. (Error -25588, ISAM8 Up until that 51st user, everything was running fine. When user connections went back down to 50 we were fine again. The 25588 error message says: An error in the application can produce this message. Check your CONNECT statement and the sqlhosts file. A system failure can also produce this message. If you can find no immediate cause for the failure, note the circumstances and contact your database server administrator for assistance. The shared memory communication subsystem is down or not functioning. Contact the database server administrator to report the problem. We are working with the vendor that maintains the software and they haven't come up with a resolution yet. I've been trying different onconfig parameter settings all night and haven't come up with anything either. I've spent the most time playing with NETTYPE. Until today I didn't even have NETTYPE defined in my onconfig. I have 3 different instances of IDS and they all are manifesting this same problem. I have attached the onconfig file if that will help. I appreciate any ideas anyone can give me. Thank you. Jane Vohden Database Administrator jvohden@co.fairbanks.ak.us HP-UX 11, IDS 9.30.hc1

You are probably defaulting to 50 user (standard SHM setting) or else the vendor has done something clever in the app Jane Vohden wrote: > > Today we experienced an odd problem. > > The 51st person to access the database would get the following message: > > The appl process cannot connect to the database server dev. > (Error -25588, ISAM8 > > Up until that 51st user, everything was running fine.
