Everything should work pretty much the same as before. Of course if your applications are poorly designed and retrieve and manually filter lots of data that they do not need, then rewriting your queries to be more specific or using stored procedures to perform more complex filter processing WILL save you lots of communication overhead. Conversely, you may find that nested 4GL loops instead of SQL joins will perform better again because of the reduced communications overhead. Art S. Kagel
