We are (were) contemplating exactly such a move (limited test, full convert) on our production system -- eek. Some questions I still have, though, that you would probably be in a good position to answer -- how long does the database conversion itself take? Does it intelligently allocate space for the larger indices, or just use the existing extent space and add more extents if needed (blech)? I'm sure our circumstances are different, but maybe give relative speed measures -- is it just a drop-index--build-index? Or...? We have many and large indices, and I need some time estimate how long we'll be down while they rebuild (once we do it, at some future date). -- Andrew Burt aburt@du.edu "But if he was dying he wouldn't bother to carve "Aaaaargh", he'd just say it."
