Finderr says: -1228 Message number not found in message file. 4GL cannot find a message number that should appear in a message file that was installed with the product. Reinstall all files of type .iem from the distribution materials. If you have modified the contents of the file, 4glusr.msg, review all deletions you might have made, and recompile that file. Have you checked this. It may also be that you have installed your products (or an upgrade) in the wrong order. (You must install 4GL first, then the engine. If you want to install an upgrade of 4GL you must reinstall the engine. Very unfortunate to say the least, but also very necessary.) > Coercing the date into an integer value works fine. > > Thus: "select * from foo where foo_date = '01/01/96' gives an error What is the DBDATE environement variable set to. It should be one of the following for the above to work: MDY2/ MDY4/ or if the day is first: DMY2/ DMY4/ Of course you should try to avoid litteral dates, and when you use them use 4 digit years! But that is another story. > but: > DEFINE f_int Integer > > Let f_int = MDY(1,1,96) #-- example only > Let f_stmt = "select * from foo where foo_date = ",f_int > > Works OK. Except that this will be year 96 (not 1996) :-) Nils.Myklebust@ccmail.telemax.no NM Data AS, Postbox 9090, Gronland, 0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company
