Clarifying connection from Win98 to NT IDS

Hi, I'm a little bit confused about logins and password authorization using a connection from a Win98 application to IDS on Win NT. The Win98 has a login 'Win98usr' with 'Win98pw' to log into his workstation. In the setnet32 utility I can set the user and login for the IDS Sever with 'IDSusr' and 'IDSpw'. Which user has to be set on the NT server to connect to IDS? Do I have to create a user Win98usr or IDSusr? This user then gets an "connect" (or "dba") grant on the database? I'm currently using the same name and password for all three (and it works ;-), but I would like to know the exact dependence without trying out all combinations... TIA Axel

Hmm, I just found the 'Carlton Doe' in my mailbox. On page 63 he says: "First, if the user has supplied an account name as part of the connection, then the server will check whether the account name and the supplied password match. The authentication check is done as if the user was logging in on the physical server..." I'll do the connect to the database with IDSUser and IDSpw as supplied in setnet32, so I would think, the user IDSUser with PW IDSpw should exist on the NT server, IDSuser is checked for table privileges to connect to the database. IMHO Win98user and Win98pw are used, if I use any _network_ ressources from the NT server... confusing... Axel
