Thanks - Tom Sorry, I am always over analysing. What I mean is, you might not be changing the KAIO setting, but you are moving from HP to AIX (an opsys change). The Informix internals might be the same (no change there), but the opsys's can sometimes be very different, therefor "if not broken why change" does not have meaning anymore ... you are changing the opsys.
