Transparent data recovery...

I was wondering if anyone has found a good solution for a client-transparent automatic fail over to a secondary server if the primary goes down and back again. We are currently using HDR, but while the secondary database assumes the primary role, there is no means for the clients to automatically route to the secondary directly. I am hoping to discover either an Informix or non-Informix solution which will keep from having to add code to shutdown the current connection and switch over to the secondary and then back again - having the client arbitrate between which server to use sucks.
