Yes but at this point it places a lock on sysprocplan. It's much better to update the stats for your procedures as part of your std table update stats. Also the engine does not always detect that a particular procedure needs to be recompiled so it is always best to UPDATE STATISTICS on all procedures that touch a table you are altering of even after running UPDATE STATISTICS on the tables. Since this is very fast it is usually best to just UPDATE STATISTICS on all procedures so you can feel confident you did not miss any. Art S.
