Actually you are probably not allocating any memory "per user". If your default connection, or the explicit connection that a user is using, is a shared memory connection (onipcshm) then your applications are attached directly to the Informix shared memory blocks which include user tables, buffer cache, semaphore locks, SMI tables etc. It is huge but it is globally shared memory brought up by the engine.
