issue sql to remote (Informix) dbms from Excel on Mac?

I am interested in issuing sql statements (queries, inserts, updates, etc) to a remote Informix dbms from Excel on a Mac 7.5.1 system, and reference spreadsheet areas to provide or receive various pieces of the statement i.e. to use Excel as a front end. I know you used to be able to do this with Wingz, but the Mac isn't supported anymore (or at least not yet after Wingz was sold and I'm not using Wingz anway).
