could any one help me with Informix-NewEra 3.10TC1 for Windows 9x? I have a setup problem with the private work space which is not allowding me to use the Application builder and the class library.
Oh boy - I guess I'll admit that we struggled with the same problem many, many times in the past few years, but usually made it work in the end somehow. Watch out for the following: 1. First of all, since you have a failed install, you need to clean up everything (NewEra related) on that machine first, before you start over with another install. This includes uninstalling, deleting all related directories including the SE database directory, Visual C++, AND deleting registry entries using regedit, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/NEWERA. 2. Make sure the directory you create for the SE database is shared. 3. Make sure you have TCP/IP setup properly. Make sure you have a host name and a domain name specified (during one install, it worked once we used a domain name ending with a .com per the suggestion of Informix tech support - it would not work otherwise !!!???). Do this even if you do not have a DNS - SE just needs to see some domain name there... There are some other tricks depending on the specific problem/configuration - it has been a while since I have done this. If you have the Installation and Configuration guide, read it VERY carefully. If you do not, you can e-mail me or call me and I'll try to help. Hal Maner M Systems International, Inc. P. O.
