Sorry, but IDS has no concept of ROWNUMBER and the ANSI SQL std does not require it. That admittedly useful feature is an extension supported by many RDBMSes, but not IDS. There was a rumor i short time ago, propagated by me unfortunately (passing on bad info), that IDS 10.00.UC.3 would have that feature, but it unfortunately does not. Art S. Kagel
