AIX/5.01 INET & ESQL/C Problems
Posted in 1994
A customer running AIX 2.3 is trying to upgrade from SE 4.X to 5.01,
and is encountering the following:
When trying to run an ESQL/C program that ran 4.X - and which contains
no SQL statements (it's setting an alarm and executes a seperate
program that does the database stuff) - compiles ok, but hangs on
receiving the alarm. When they compile via cc rather than esql,
everything works. Their concern is that they have other modules with
both the alarm handling and the SQL statements, so they're worried that
if they compile those in 5.01, the same problem will occur.
When running dbaccess or isql Unix-to-Unix to a remote site via INET
(versions do match), when exiting, they get hung until they type the
quit (control-\\) key. We suspect it's part of the same problem above.
We suspect the ESQL/C - AIX libraries, but mention "c" and my eyes
glaze over.
Any suggestions or direction on where to look or what to try would be
appreciated.
