Now that I've come to this newsgoup and seen the threads here, I think I understand a little better why Mike Segel is being such a dick (as in detective). My original post was a response to the on-going thread regarding the rumor of Microsoft buying out Informix. The last line read: "It feels so good to be able to talk about it, at last." Granted I was pretty wasted when I posted it, but I thought most people would understand it was a joke. Wrong, apparently Mike didn't understand. He switched the account he was using, I assume from his fathers to his, so his posts were no longer part of the thread, even though he ingeniously made the subject "Re: Informix Buyout". So, I missed his rantings, including the one with my home phone number in it. That was a thoughtful touch. The whole time he has been ranting about calling the SEC on me, I had nary a clue what his malfunction was, until I saw how Informix's stock had tanked. So, I take it this guys problem is that he has lost 2/3 's of his investment in Informix stock. Needless to say, I'm not shedding any tears over that. After taking his flames to e-mail, you guys missed some entertaining exchanges between "Uncle Mike" and myself, where I had no memory at all of posting my joke. I had no idea what he was talking about. Since I have promised others that I would stop using profane language in the newsgroups, there's not much more that I can say about Mike Segel. I will however put in my two cents on your thread, and then I'll go back to "misc.invests.stocks". > I have always been perplexed by the fact that people are prepared to e-mail others in > a way that they would never consider for a moment doing in person. Actually, I do. I was never college boy. I don't wear a suit. I tell people when they are a piece of shit, to their face or otherwise. It doesn't always work out, I've had my back broken twice by "kinder gentler" people, lost the feeling in my fingers-tips (which makes typing hard), and had to teach myself everything about computers, neural nets, the markets, etc. Little spoiled brats ranting about the SEC do not impress me. > It can't be passed off as harmless > fun when it goes to these kinds of lengths. Yeah, tell me about it. I'm easy to find thanks to "Uncle Mike". > This is a professional forum and in my view this > kind of behaviour demeans the people concerned > and adds absolutely no value. The Informix forum seems professional, the stock forum is more like Professional Wrestling. > If the purpose was to scare the poster away, then the exact opposite > has occurred. Good move by those concerned, not. I agree. I'm not leaving, no one is leaving. If anything, people are still coming in droves. > Sorry - Greg but I have to side with Mike here. That is his name - not Al! Mike did that to himself by switching accounts periodically. This was probably a good idea though, he would not want his father to be getting my responses to his threats. > There have been some blatant fibs being told here "fib"? Wow, you guys are.....docile. > It's not ok to try and manipulate people by telling lies. J-O-K-E Anyway, I just wanted you guys to hear the other side of that thread. Billiam
