It's gruesome, and if there's lots of 'normal' traffic between the machines it's even worse. I suppose the neat way is to mod the services file on your INET machine to point to a monitoring process on the machine running ISTAR which then just pipes the i/o to/from the real ISTAR. Easier said than done, but perhaps someone has already been there.
