rc files and TBCONFIG

Hi INFORMIX'ers why I can't set TBCONFIG in my rc2 file...? in my rc2 file I assigned TBCONFIG variable to other configuration file thant tbconfig, after booting when I issue tbmonitor I see the engine is offline, so I need to explicity set it TBCONFIG=tbconfig2; export TBCONFIG (which I have the same thing in my rc2 file). am I missing some thing.......? I'm running ONLINE 5 on SCO 3.2... any hints.... thanks & regards...
