Daniel, Does the Oracle DBA Certification still require some kind of "time in service" requirement before certification is allowed? I read a while back you can't just sit for the test, you actually have to have some time as an Oracle DBA before you can get certified. Is this the case? Thanks in advance... How about a non-procedural insert of 100,000 records? Does that > lower the bar sufficiently?

My opinion on this is no secret so I've no problem repeating it here: I consider Oracle's certifications worthless and know nothing of the rules. You would need to check with Oracle. Well, as you're aware, the certification has less to do with what _I_ or you have to think about it vs what the customer requires to meet some compliance objectives they have. If there is a fast track to certification I'm certainly going to go that route simply to meet some strategic objectives, but certainly not because I care one way or the other about the product, it's a business decision. But thanks for the input anyway--and as to any university program, if that helps I'm game for it, I'll check in my region. Oracle appears to be less about reality and more about marketing and keeping the brand safe--at least that's been what I've seen so far. It's easy money compared to some of the other choices I have. ;-) Thanks...
