Escape Codes for printing under Windows 95

I am trying to use Escape Codes under Windows 95. I use Informix-SE V6.0 that works under Windows 3.1. My printer is a Hewlett Packard 600. When I start a report, my printer manager starts, but escapes codes don't take effect in the report printed. I can't put some words with bold, italics, etc. I need someone to reply my question because if I'm not able of printing under Windows with Escape Codes, I will never finish my project to finish my career.
