connectivity with IDS 11.5 on Mac OSX
Posted in 2008
Hi all,
Made an interesting discovery today.
Seems that on a Mac, including .local is key to setting up network connections
if you want to Use things like OAT or other connections to your server.
When last I mentioned this topic, I said the way to get dbaccessdemo to work
was to replace *, or even *<machine_name> with localhost.
That works, but as someone mentioned, quite correctly, this limits who can
actually connect to you instance.
So I was tinkering around with setting up OAT , and realized that. But the oat
install gave me a clue. OS X makes use of a .local setting,
so I changed my my sqlhosts entry from
mac_1150 onsoctcp localhost sqlexec
to
mac_1150 onsoctcp gondolin.local sqlexec
and not only did the instance come on-line, but I can now connect from other
applications (like OAT)
Just thought I would pass the information along.
