Please help an Informix Newbe

I am new to Informix and am getting things done with the hands-on approach. This worked fine, untill I had to do something that is totaly new for me! I am in the middle of installing BaanIVc on Solaris 2.6 with Informix 7.24UC1 as an RDBMS. Now my problem: The logical logs are full! I don't know if I can safely use "onmode -sy" and add some logs and after that swith back to "multi-user mode" (will this have impact on the running installation. Since I am new to UNIX also, I don't even know how to mount my tave-drive (in /dev/tapedev) and use "ontape -s -L 0" to make a backup of my logs. Who has some advice?
