Accelerated LLog usage
Posted in 2003
Hi all, We've been running IDS for a couple years. We use Veritas to back up the logical logs as they fill up. This morning, I see in the Veritas logs that it has backed up hundreds of logical logs since last night around 7:00pm. Generally, it takes around 30 minutes to an hour to fill up one log. We're currently consuming logs at 15 to 45 seconds each. It will consume 3-4 logs in 30 seconds, then slow down for a minute or less, then consume 3-4 more logs. I've looked at the process list on the two machines that typically make connections to the database, and nothing catches my attention. What can I do to track down what's causing this kind of log consumption? I've watched logs during data-loads, and that didn't chew through the logs anywhere near as fast as what it's doing right now.
