There seems little question from where I sit meeting with people from different organizations, most with mixed environments, that the whispered protestations of IBM employees about the future of Informix are lost in the loud roar of facts as you've pointed out. The IBM Informix site you link to above contains "DB2" on it 8 different times. Click on the Bread Crumb under the drop-down menus where it says "Software > DB2 Information Management >" and you won't find a link to the Informix page. The message seems to be getting through loudly and clearly and Informix is hemorraging as a result. -- Daniel A. Morgan http://www.psoug.org damorgan@x.washington.edu (replace x with u to respond)
My impression is: The Informix marketing is mainly for existing customers and partners and is not allowed to harm DB2 business (even not theoretically). If they damage DB2 business in any way they probably get fired. Under this circumstances they do a good job. But if they are allowed to do more (and IBM has long term plans with IDS), then Marketing should change some websites immediately !!!.
