Server restores
Posted in 2017
User performed a full system restore and brought the server online, then realized they needed to apply additional logical logs from production. When attempting to apply logs while the server was in quiescent mode, they received error -27002 (no connections allowed in quiescent mode). The resolution was to shut down the instance first, then perform logical restore.

Hi All,
I'm cutting my teeth on doing back up and restores. Today I did a full system
restore from or production machine to a new machine we will be using as the
back up after more testing is done. Today I used the command
/opt/informix/bin/onbar r to restore the the server and then it restored the
logical logs. After it was complete I issued the onmode m to bring everything
back on line. After doing this I found out that maybe I shouldn't have brought
it back on-line because tomorrow I need to bring over today's logical logs
from production and apply them to the server. When I found this out I put the
server in quiescent mode with onmode -s. I then went to the production server
to get the oldest log file to see if I could apply it. I issued the command
onbar -r -l and checked the online.log to see what was happening, I found this
error.
15:33:36 listener-thread: err = -27002: oserr = 0: errstr = : No connections ar
e allowed in quiescent mode.
Can anyone tell me the steps I would take to start applying the lattest
logical logs.
Thank you.
During restore the server is in fast recovery stage. Once restore is complete
it goes to quiescent mode.Shutdown the instance and start the logical restore.

Not going to work. Once a logical restore completed there's no way to get
it to do more logical restore - logically impossible.
What you had wanted probably is 'continuous log restore' which you can feed
new log backups as they become available:
