Any help I could get with the problem I've described below, trying to
run multiple instances of Informix ODS v7.23 on Solaris 2.5.1, would be
greatly appreciated!
I'm getting a "*network error*"" message on the console from a second
Informix instance
while inside the onmonitor utility. Both instances are online, but we
only connect to the first. Any ideas why?
Our second instance's sqlhosts file looks like this...
m7dev ontlitcp m7dbserver turbodev
and here are a few selected entries from the second instance's
onconfig_m7dev file...
SERVERNUM 1
DBSERVERNAME m7dev
NETTYPE tlitcp,1,20,NET
Note that the turbodev service has been added to the /etc/services
file as port 1529, chosen arbitrarily, but ensures no conflict with the
first instance running
on port 1528.
This error message doesn't occur on the primary instance of
Informix we first installed on port turbo/1528, which we called
m7server. As you can see below, we established an alias with the first
instance but not
with the second instance described above.
Here's the info on this primary instance:
Primary instance's sqlhosts file...
m7server ontlitcp m7dbserver turbo
m7pipe onipcshm m7dbserver notused
and selected entries from onconfig_m7 file...
SERVERNUM 0
DBSERVERNAME m7pipe
DBSERVERALIASES m7server
NETTYPE ontlitcp,1,200,NET
NETTYPE onipcshm,1,10,CPU
