For "hot site backup", I'd recommend that you look into HDR. There are more restrictions than with ER, in regard to how "alike" the primary / target servers must be -- but HDR is MUCH easier to administer than ER. Chapters 29 and 30 in the ODS 7.2 Admin Guide will give you a good idea of how HDR works, and what the restrictions are. Let me know if you need any other info on HDR.
