Informix installation problem

Tried to install informix 4gl ver 6.05.UD1 from CD-Rom using cpio command as stated in key card. However, the following error occurred : This is not a cpio file, bad header Anybody can help?? thks
The distribution CD's are usually in cpio or tar format. Try reading the tape with the tar command. tar tvf device_name. The 4GL that I've just loaded from CD-ROM, admittedly a later version, was in tar format. Maybe yours is? Try doing ls -l /CDROM (where /CDROM is the mount point of your drive) - this should give some clues. Sometimes it is a file on CD, so you have to mount the CD first und using the file on CD as cpio's input.
